The mission of YWSE is to bring women to the highest positions of
leadership in business, government, and social and environmental
work and to promote young women social entrepreneurs by providing
training and development, access to resources, networking opportunities,
and general support for our members.

2004 Fellow in IDEAL Leadership Program

(Institute for the Development of Emerging Area Leaders)
The mission of the Institute for the Development of Emerging Area
Leaders (IDEAL) is to strengthen local capacity for effective public
policy decision-making impacting the economic, social and environmental
future of California's Central Valley. Sessions include five monthly
two-day seminars; participation in the Great Valley Center's annual
regional conference; and a graduation celebration. The IDEAL sessions
are held in a variety of Central Valley locations in order to increase
participants' understanding of the region. Seminars focus on issues
specific to the Central Valley: the economy, technology, agriculture,
environment and natural resources, land use, housing and transportation.

Nonprofit Technology Enterprise Network (NTEN) offers a Day of Service
to help Bay Area Nonprofits. The Day of Service is an opportunity
for nonprofit techies to give something back to the community where
the Roundup is held. Local nonprofits with a technology project
that can be addressed in a single day are matched with teams of
nonprofit techies who possess the appropriate skill sets.

Web Designer in Accessible Internet Rally

Sponsored by Compumentor and Knowbility. A day-long web design competition.
Web developers team up with local nonprofits and create Web sites
for these grassroots organizations. These new sites are fully accessible
for people with disabilities. The AIR program provides much needed
Internet presence for local nonprofit organizations and strives
to make the public aware of the crucial issue of Web accessibility
for people with disabilities.

Volunteer for CompuMentor

Volunteered for a non-profit agency that provides technical assistance
and consulting resources to nonprofits in the Bay Area. Worked on
a project called “Virus Vaccination Day”—attended
2 ½ hour training session, and was assigned and dispatched
to an nonprofit agency in the East Bay Area to install Norton Antivirus
software on all computers, while documenting steps and results.
