About Me
My name is Desiree Cervantes Holden and I am a technology consultant committed to working with nonprofits and progressive businesses. Prior to starting my own business, I worked as the Systems and Web Administrator for the Great Valley Center, a nonprofit organization located in Modesto, CA. I have lived in the Central Valley for most of my life and currently reside in Modesto with my husband, dog, and two cats.
I would describe myself as an all-around IT and Web Manager who is capable of managing many different types of projects simultaneously, and is comfortable wearing many hats in many roles. I have several years of experience managing a large website (1000+ pages) and a small network of up to 30 users. In addition to my experience as an IT and Web Manager, I have created and led basic to advanced trainings on a variety of topics, including office software applications, graphic design for print and web, website design and management, backup strategies, laptop care, and database design and maintenance. I also have a strong administrative background in event planning for workshops, conferences, and forums, managing membership/constituent mailing lists, and creating marketing materials for event promotion and branding.
I am a technically-minded and socially-conscious individual; always looking for opportunities to work on projects that combine technology with creativity and interaction with community. I believe my greatest personal strengths to be creativity and commitment to continuous learning. I am constantly seeking new ideas and ways to develop personally, professionally and spiritually. I have been described by friends and colleagues as a truth-teller, knowledge-seeker, and practical idealist.
In addition to my full-time work experience, through consulting and volunteering, I have sought to improve my skills and align my interests in humanity with my passion for technology; especially anything related to the web. Between 2004 and 2006 I served on the board for the San Francisco Chapter of Young Women Social Entrepreneurs (YWSE-SF), an organization committed to bringing women with business savvy and a social change agenda to the highest level of leadership in all sectors. I continue to work with YWSE-SF as a technology advisory and web consultant. I have also maintained membership with the Nonprofit Technology Enterprise Network (NTEN), a support network for technology workers/consultants with a commitment to social change. Most recently I have begun working as an advisor to the board for the Stanislaus Pride Center. I am managing a project that will provide cultural competency training to mental health and primary care providers in the region, as well as establish a GLBT healtchare referral database.
I welcome the opportunity to work with you on future projects. Please contact me!
